Hand-Thrown Spoon Rest

Every cook needs a place to set down a sauce-covered spoon, so why not make it something beautiful? Each spoon rest is thrown on the wheel in my Central Florida home studio. The spiral in the center is the mark the wheel leaves as the piece takes shape, and the glaze pools in it so the color deepens toward the middle. A notch in the rim cradles your spoon handle so it stays put.

The speckled cream clay on the outside frames a glossy pop of color inside. Each color comes out of the kiln a little differently, so yours will be one of a kind.

Made to Be Used
This spoon rest is made from stoneware clay and fired to a high temperature in my kiln, which makes it dense, durable, and ready for your morning coffee or evening tea. It's finished with lead-free, food-safe glazes. While it is dishwasher-safe, hand washing will keep it looking its best for years.

Unique
Because each piece is handmade, yours may vary slightly in size, color, and glaze movement from the photos. That's part of the charm.
